Acceptance of these Terms
By accessing or using the Service you accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated here by reference. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you are authorized to accept these Terms on its behalf.
Eligibility
The Service is intended for nursing students and other adult learners. You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction) to use the Service, and you must be old enough to form a binding contract with us. By using the Service you represent that you meet these requirements.
Educational use only — no medical advice
Lumen Nursing is a study tool for nursing students. It is intended solely for educational use and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or clinical decision-making for the care of real patients. Content in the Service — including questions, rationales, case studies, care plans, and Ask Lumen responses — may contain errors and must not be relied on for patient care. Always defer to your instructors, your institution’s policies, current clinical guidelines, and a qualified licensed professional. Nothing in the Service creates a clinician–patient or provider relationship.
Do not enter real patient information, protected health information, or other sensitive personal data into the Service, including into Ask Lumen.
Your account
- You may use the app as an anonymous guest, or create an account to sync your study progress across your devices.
- You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information and for keeping your credentials confidential. You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account.
- Notify us promptly at andrew@zerobound.app if you believe your account has been compromised.
Subscriptions and billing
Lumen offers free features and optional paid subscriptions (for example, “Basic” or “Pro”) that unlock additional functionality. The following terms apply to paid subscriptions:
- Billing through the app stores. Purchases made on Apple devices are processed by Apple through your App Store account, and purchases made on the web are processed through our payment and subscription providers. Apple or the applicable provider processes your payment; we do not receive your full payment-card details.
- Auto-renewal. Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
- Managing and canceling. You can manage or cancel your subscription through your App Store account settings (for Apple purchases) or through your account settings on the web. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- Free trials. If we offer a free trial, any unused portion is forfeited when you purchase a subscription, where applicable.
- Refunds. Payments are generally non-refundable except where required by law or by the applicable app store’s policies. App Store purchase refunds are handled by Apple.
- Price changes. We may change subscription prices. We will give notice of price changes as required, and changes apply to subsequent billing periods.
Ask Lumen and AI features
“Ask Lumen” provides context-aware tutoring generated with the help of artificial intelligence. AI-generated output can be inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading, and is provided for study purposes only. You are responsible for evaluating the accuracy and appropriateness of any output before relying on it. Do not enter real patient information or sensitive personal data into Ask Lumen. See our Privacy Policy for how prompts are processed.
Your content
“Your Content” means the decks, question sets, care plans, case studies, notes, and other material you create within the Service. You retain ownership of Your Content. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, and display Your Content solely to operate, provide, and improve the Service for you — for example, to sync it across your devices. You are responsible for Your Content and represent that you have the rights necessary to submit it and that it does not violate these Terms or any law.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms;
- Enter real patient information or protected health information into the Service;
- Copy, scrape, resell, sublicense, or redistribute the Service’s content except as expressly permitted;
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code, except to the extent that restriction is prohibited by law;
- Interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, our systems, or other users’ accounts;
- Use automated means to access the Service in a way that burdens our infrastructure, or circumvent any usage limits or security measures;
- Upload malware or content that is unlawful, infringing, harassing, or otherwise objectionable.
Our intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, text, graphics, study content we provide, and trademarks, is owned by ZeroBound LLC or its licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your own non-commercial educational use. We reserve all rights not expressly granted.
Third-party services
The Service relies on third-party providers (for example, Apple, our cloud, analytics, subscription, and AI providers) and may link to third-party websites. Your use of the App Store and other third-party services is governed by their own terms. We are not responsible for third-party services or content.
Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time and may request deletion of your account by contacting us. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or to protect the Service or other users. Upon termination, the rights granted to you under these Terms end, but sections that by their nature should survive — including ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification — will survive.
Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ACCURACY. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE OR ITS CONTENT IS ACCURATE, COMPLETE, RELIABLE, OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR SECURE. THE SERVICE IS NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR PROFESSIONAL MEDICAL JUDGMENT OR FORMAL NURSING EDUCATION.
Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ZEROBOUND LLC AND ITS OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR USD $50. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN LIMITATIONS, SO SOME OF THESE LIMITATIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless ZeroBound LLC and its officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of your use of the Service, Your Content, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.
Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maine, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute relating to these Terms or the Service will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Maine, and you consent to their jurisdiction, except where applicable law gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere. Nothing in these Terms limits any non-waivable statutory rights you may have.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice within the Service. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
